  6. 1. MAGIC AND MACHINES
  7.  
  8. As one begins to study the complex of ideas and concepts pertinent to the 
  9. interests of legitimate Satanism, one is always surprised and interested to 
  10. hear of the utilization of electro/mechanical means to influence the 
  11. atmosphere contained within the immediate area of the ritual chamber. 
  12. Ionization, ozonization, high-frequency resonance, and electro-magnetic 
  13. fields have all been used within the chambers of sorcerers through the use 
  14. of such devices as Van de Graaf generators, Tesla coils, synthesizers etc.

  16. The introduction of these energies into the chamber environment serves a 
  17. dual, connected purpose. The first is to heighten the physical separation of 
  18. the ritual chamber from the outside world. Secondly, it is used to create a 
  19. cerebral separation within the participants who enter within the chamber's 
  20. immediate area of influence.

  22. The most commonly known source of information regarding this very specific 
  23. type of Black Magic may be found in Anton Szandor LaVey's book, _The Satanic 
  24. Rituals_ [LaVey is also the author of the _Satanic Bible_]. In particular 
  25. the ritual entitled "Die Elektrischen Vorspiele" contains many of the 
  26. essential elements germane to this article. I highly recommend its reading.

  28. In addition to the energies inherent in any high-voltage electrical field, 
  29. high-frequency tonal resonance, specific lighting designs, and the actual 
  30. chamber layout all contribute to the alienation which is desired in the 
  31. Black Magician's ritual environment. The Temple of Set has been conducting 
  32. research into these little-known areas of Black Magic for several years. Our 
  33. Work has been generally successful.

  35. Recently a southern California company has begun to market machines which 
  36. utilize flashing lights and tonal frequencies to produce desired brain wave 
  37. states in humans for relaxation purposes. It is rather interesting to note 
  38. that turn-of-the-century German sorcerers were using these same general 
  39. techniques within their magical environments over 80 years ago! The Temple 
  40. of Set has continued to refine the tradition begun by our Black Brothers 
  41. nearly a century ago.

  43. The specific theories which lie behind this very distinct and effective form 
  44. of Black Magic may be found within the archives of the Temple of Set. These 
  45. materials are not available to the general public.

  48. 2. THE LAW OF THE TRAPEZOID
  49.  
  50. Of central importance to Order of the Inverse Trapezoid (OIT) is the study 
  51. and cataloguing of the subjective/objective impressions and manifestations 
  52. which occur within an "angular" environment. By the term "angular" I am 
  53. specifically speaking of the ratios of both _pi_ and _phi_. These may come 
  54. in the form of physical planes, frequency ratios (resonant forms),measured 
  55. electrical field phenomena, and visual representations.

  57. Why are these ratios important? Anton LaVey summed it up via his "Law of the 
  58. Trapezoid", which states: "All obtuse Angles are magically harmful to those 
  59. unaware of this property. The same angles are beneficial, stimulating, and 
  60. energizing to those who are magically sensitive to them."
  61.  
  62. By environment I mean the AREA OF INFLUENCE by which the various 
  63. representations of the angles (visual,audio,field phenomena) are able to act 
  64. within.
  65.  
  66. What exactly happens when an individual enters a angular environment? It is 
  67. very apparent that a polarity is produced within the individual. This is in 
  68. essence what the Law of the Trapezoid describes. Some are attracted to the 
  69. environment, and others are repelled. Along with attraction comes mental 
  70. imagery that tries to encompass infinite concepts. Those who are repelled go 
  71. to the opposite with imagery that has a profound morbid aspect connected to 
  72. it. Feelings of impending death on a individual and species-wide scale, 
  73. theirs is a finite image. These are generalizations; I have seen extremes 
  74. with both polarities. The bottom line is that there is an effect produced, 
  75. no one really understands the actual nature of the effect, nor its 
  76. boundaries. We will find out.

  78. Most certainly each individual has felt the effects of an angular 
  79. environment. Many symbols incorporate angular features into their motif, and 
  80. most certainly we have all felt moved by particular music forms in a manner 
  81. falling into the above description of what happens in a angular environment. 
  82. Haunted house phenomena is most common in homes that have many angular 
  83. shapes both inside and out. Angles produce the "Command to Look"[cf. _The 
  84. Command to Look_ by William Mortensen], which then motivates into a polarity 
  85. which can be predictable. The ability to unlock the secret of the angles 
  86. will allow a more precise refining of its exhilarating - and thus inspiring 
  87. - properties is a goal that OIT has been working on with some degree of 
  88. success. We will continue to refine these findings to create a methodical 
  89. approach in creating these environments.

  92. 3. TONAL ANGULARITY: MUSICK THAT KILLS
  93.  
  94. Tonal Angularity (or TA for short) in its most easily understood conceptual 
  95. sense is the Command to Look applied within the construction of the 
  96. components which comprise a sound. This very precise refinement and 
  97. manipulation of the elements of sound have only become possible (outside a 
  98. sound lab) with the advent of synthesizers, and in particular with the 
  99. recent marketing of affordable midi digital synthesizers.

  101. The Principle of Tonal Angularity is intimately tied to the Law of the 
  102. Trapezoid. The prime difference in the application of TA as opposed to other 
  103. forms of angularity is its method of transfer. Visual angularity is an 
  104. observable medium, while TA is abstract. The angles of TA are vibratory in 
  105. form and as such are dynamic in that they are in constant motion as one 
  106. encounters an area of their influence.

  108. Other than mode of transmission, the underlying mathematical scheme is 
  109. precisely the same for all angular forms whether they be visual, field 
  110. phenomena, or audio. All are dependent upon equivalent mathematical ratios 
  111. to pi-phi and other mathematical formula which won't be discussed in this 
  112. introductory treatise. TA is essentially geometric measurement applied to 
  113. the creation of frequency ratios between multiple sine waves.

  115. Some of the elements which can be manipulated in TA would be pitch, wave 
  116. form, harmonic structure, harmonic relationships, frequency modulation, 
  117. amplitude modulation, frequency ratio (very important), the envelope and 
  118. finally, volume.
